Drinking my way through Boston (Part 2)

Amy and I are notorious for our drinking ability and I knew my trip would be nothing less then drinkextraordinary (yes, I just made up that word).

As I explored the Boston in the freezing rain I decided the only way I was going to survive drinking my way through it, would also be eating. Luckily for me Boston has some AMAZING food.

When I went to the East, Obama had just told the nation that BinLaden was killed (yes, this is a delayed post) this was one of the funniest bar signs that I saw... and it was good.

Margarita on the rocks, Cinco de Mayo one-of-a-kind drink that I complained about, but let's be honest, who wants to slip on a SUPER sweet marg. I mean normally I say hold the margarita and give me the tequila, but I was trying not to get completely out of my mind. The bartender was witty and tried to give me a hard time, I just tried to take off his clothes, pretty sure that's love <3

When ever my glass was almost empty this fine man made sure I never slurped , pretty sure that's love <3

 This bartender created these drinks:

Amy and I decided to try the martini that was on special, something rhubarb flip. I had no idea that "flip" meant raw egg. As I saw the raw egg go into the shaker I knew that the drink wasn't going to be like anything I had had before.., let me tell you, it was grossssssssssss. I will try EVERYTHING and that I don't really want to try again.

I forgot what this was, but it made me drunk, real fast.

I thought that when my dear friend Matt (to the girls at home New Hampshire) ordered a Manhattan and it came in a martini glass that it would be a fruity "girl" drink. I was wrong, that was stronger then I expected and it was fabulous.

When Amy ditched me for her job enterprise I had to "make it work." So, I went to my trusty companion google and googled the best clam chowder in Boston. I decided to go with the most touristy and one I could find, Union Oyster House.

I sat at the oyster bar and ate fresh oysters, clams, clam chowder and beer for two day. The guys who worked here were so fun and gave me one of everything to try, the "secret" recipe to make my own clam chowder and corn bread, pretty sure that's love <3

*Although it's not pictured I would like to say that my trip with Amy was amazing, we are the perfect team, and not to brag but I'm an awesome wing man.

(P.S. D-money if you ever ready this I left my sweater at your house for a reason, I guess it worked out for the best! A- I would really like that back :)

Eating my way through New York, drinking my way through Boston...

...that was may plan.

In my week off between TV and RRFC, I decided to take an impromptu trip to see my BFF'S Tommy in New York and Amy in Boston.

I've never been to NY and I only had 24 hours so I did what anyone would do, I googled NY in a day. After about 5 minutes of research I decided on the following:

Breakfast:  Ess-a-Bagel
It was amazing, the lox were fresh and bagel was warmly toasted and the perfect combination of tomatoes, cucumber and onions melted in my mouth. This amazing gentleman who was helping me cut my pickles into hearts, I'm pretty sure thats love <3

I walked around Central Park and peopled watched, took in the beautiful flowers and made my way to Katz's Delicatessen.
Hot pastrami on fresh rye with half/half pickles and a black cherry Dr. Browns (SCREAMS my childhood). The guy who make me my sandwich told me I was not a typical Californian. He asked where my blond hair and fake boobs were, i said they were in my room, i would bring them out later, love? <3 Also it screams my favorite movie, When Harry Met Sally and I did sit at their table and all I wanted to do was fake an orgasm- (oh wait I already did that at Thunder Down Under CG holler!)

Then I went to get real NY pizza and google told me the best place was Lombardi's Coal Oven Pizza:

Even though they shut down their ovens in the middle of the day I still decided to wait for this famous pizza. It was delicious. I'm not gonna lie it was the first time I've ever been to a restaurant by myself where I actually said, "table for one." I have to say it was empowering and I felt like a grown up. My waiter was super cool and he ending up giving me a couple free drinks. I'm pretty sure that's love <3

*I have to say next time I go to NY, I think I'm going to take this pizza challenge.

I then headed shopping where I bought a pair of Toms because my feet were killing me in my boots. A TopShop killer side purse and a couple things at Forever 21.

I had to have a mini cupcake as I was cruising the fashion district! There was peanut butter in the middle!!
.

Then came time to FINALLY see Tommy and we went to find dinner...after walking around the city for literally two hours bickering unintentionally making a pit spot in Time Square...
(me)

...we finally settled on this super cute restaurant Penelope it was almost as delicious as the waiter :)

We shared the artichoke appetizer, Tommy had the Lobster roll and I had fish n' chips for dessert we had a magical heath bar, brownie, warm thing that melted a little bit of my heart. We closed down the place and had a really nice time talking with the staff and laughing about life, pretty sure that's love <3

I then headed off to BOSTONNNNNNN.....

Boston in part 2!

I'll mail you yours, if you mail me mine.

2009
I was getting gas and I realized I didn't know my new pin number to my debit card, I didn't have any cash or a credit card. I went up to the machine and typed in my information and guessed the pin number, which was wrong. I went back to my pump in hopes that it MIGHT work, and magically it totally did. My tank was filling up and at $27.00 click, it was done (those were the days). During this gas miracle there was a man watching me (not in a creepy way) and then he started yelling, "That's my money! I put $27 dollars in my tank! You took my money!"

How on earth would I have stolen his money when my car was at the tank? I couldn't help that he prematurity put money to my tank, which ended being perfect for me. I had to think quickly. I could have either A. drove away, he had know idea who I was and when he wet back inside I could have jetted off. B. Explain to him that it's his fault, (never blame the pretty one). Right then I remembered I kept emergency money in my glove compartment, (now that you all know my hiding spot i'll need to find a new one.) I had a $20, which without question I handed over.

He was still very upset with me and wanted his full $27 dollars back. This leads me to option C. Mail this stupid guy $7.00. He was like, "you better mail me my money!" And wrote his address on a piece of paper. I went home and mailed him $7 dollars and a note:

"Never underestimate the power of people" - or something super cheesy like that.

2011
I was out at the bars with my friends and we were dancing and singing and drinking etc. For anyone that knows me, knows I don't have the best track record to holding on my my belongings ie; credit cards, and cell phones. The next morning I woke up with a huge head ache and no ID.  I called the bar, nothing. I looked everywhere, jacket pockets, purse, car, jeans, the freezer (you never know). FUCK! I was so mad at myself, because it's something that would totally happen to me. Now I had to go to the DMV, no one likes the DMV.

I got the mail that Monday, and in the mail there was a letter addressed to me. This was inside:

Someone had sent be back my ID! I was so happy/relieved/excited/thankful. It was really amazing.

I didn't put the two and two together until recently but I'm pretty sure that's exactly what karma is.

Bathroom talk

I think we have the power to change the world. One good deed at a time.

This is my weekend deed:

After a rough Friday night we decided to take it easy on Saturday so we hit up a local dive bar in Santa Monica. After people watching and drinking the only thing calling my name was the ladies room. After I entered the small 2x4 room and waited, and waited then I saw a girl; Cat, crying. Naturally I started a conversation, (us girls need to stick together) only to find out that Cat took the train from San Diego to meet her "friends," I say that in quotes because none of her friends met up with her, therefore leaving her all alone in LA with no car, no friends, no place to stay.

Without hesitation I offer her a place at our table and a place to stay, luckily I was staying in beautiful Brentwood for the night. Then give her my number for an in-case-of-an-emergency contact. My phone rang around 12:30, and Cat came over.

Once she was actually on her way over that's what it clicked in my head, she could be a psycho killer, she cold be a thief, she could steel Harvey (the best dog ever). Thank god I woke up the next morning, everything was in place and the puppy was wagging his tail for his morning walk.

As the 8 o'clock (really 7 o'clock sun) shone threw the windows I knew it was going to be a good day. I put Cat on a bus and she headed back to SD.

Recap:
1. Dive Bar
2. Girl Crying in bathroom
3. Give out in case-of-emergency number
4. Offer girl place to hang out/place to stay for night
5. She comes over
6. I get nervous shes a psycho killer
7. I wake up the next morning (thanking god)
8. Send her back to SD

Don't be stupid people, if you are in a strange city, with no friends, no car and no place to go, and no money. Get your life together.

But if there is a girl crying in the bathroom, be nice and talk, you never know when you could be in similar situation.

"never stop exploring" - northface

I finally have like 2 seconds to write in my blog....
Turkey was one of the most amazing places I have ever been to. We traveled from Istanbul to Cappadocia, then to Pamukkle then Selçuk, Ephesus to Demre. From Demre we took a boat through the Mediterranean Sea to Fethiye. I just arrived to the Greek Island Rhodes and I’ll be here for the day, then I head to Egypt.

Istanbul- we arrived at 7am and got started on our day. We walked around the city went to the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar, the Turkish people are super nice and helpful and the men are so cute :) We tried different foods and explored through the city getting lost going around in circles which is what we do best.

The next day we did the tourist thing, Blue Mosque which is amazing, the Hagia Sophia we had a private guided tour so interesting that one building housed three religions Christianity, Catholics and Islam. (We took a picture where Obama made his speech :) We then went to Basilica Cistern which is where the Turkish held their water supply underground if they ever got attacked. It was really cool, it has a long story about Medusa and the water has fish in it so the people would know if the water was poisoned, interesting. Then we went on the Bosphorus Cruise, which was a ferry that took us along the European side and the Asian side of Istanbul...it was kind of lame but we didn’t get a chance to really check out the Asian side so it was good that we got to go on the tour.

Our last say in Turkey we went for a Turkish bath. It was one of my top 3 moments on this trip so far. It was hysterical. We went to a local place, which already made it more interesting...most laughing I had done in a loooong time.

Cappadocia- Caner my Uncle Mark's friend picked us up from the bus station and we stayed with him which was awesome. Cappadocia is the place where people fled from the Romans in order to practice Christianity without persecution. They built underground cities, lived in caves and created a live in hiding so amazing. There are different styles Cones, Ferry Chimnies and a couple others. It is one of the coolest things I had seen. We went for a hike the first day and ended up who knows where trekking through brush, rocks, we pretty much went spelunking. We had no water and it was 105 degrees outside...fml. Then a thunderstorm happened, which was amazing and we went to the open air museum and walked around more.

The next day Caner took us to his work, I got to tie a knot in a Turkish rug sweeeeet, then we went to the underground cities, drank tea under an apricot tree. Then we drove around to see more sights, made pottery and hung out. Before we left Caner to us to sunset point and we looked out all over the city as the sun started to set. It was awesome

Pamukkle- is a city that holds the world’s largest calcium deposit mountain. Not even lime-a-way could help this place. We saw Apollo's Temple and swam in the pool of youth which is filled with ancient ruins, it was so coooool. The water was like 95 degrees and it is said that Cleopatra sent her men to find the pool and when they brought the water back to her and she washed her face all her wrinkles went away.

Then we climbed down the mountain through all the calcium deposits which was semi rough on the feet and slippery at the same time, both Lauren and I fell, but it was funny.

Selcuk/Ephesus- has more Greek history that Greece. It is filled with temples, theaters, ruins of all the Greek gods. It was exactly what we learn about in school, it was great. (I’m getting tired of typing)

The Boat was fucking (sorry mom) AMAZING!!! It was 3 nights 4 days and words cannot describe how great it was. We were in our bathing suits the entire time, in and out of the water. We went to some ports, and the 11 of us on the boat are now best friends. It is amazing all of the similarities that young people have even if they are from all over the world. The water was the perfect color, the sun was hot and the breeze kept us at a functional temperature. The coast of Turkey was beautiful.

Now I am in Rhodes and we head to Egypt for the next 4-5 days I am sooooooooo excited!

I hope everyone has a chance to travel, it really is amazing.

nothing can stop me now...

Athens again. Yesterday I arrived in Athens to meet Lauren and continue on our trip through Greece, Turkey and Egypt. I took the ferry for 5 hours and met a really nice couple who gave me great travel tips and also gave me a ride to the metro station which was super nice. I got onto the metro to head to my hotel and when i got off the metro i went for my wallet and it was stolen. Within the first 1 hour upon my arrival in Athens everyone to my name was gone. I spent the next 3 hours canceling credit cards, calling the embassy but of course it was Sunday, but i managed to get everything worked out. I now have a new passport and thank god for BofA over-nighting me a new credit card.

I dodged the swine flu, survived a stolen wallet with credit cards, money, passport and drivers license, threw my brains up...I'm ready for anything.

Today has been nice we went all over Athens and explored. I'm staying my first night in a real hostel and its kinda cool. Everyone i have met here has been really nice, even a woman today in the metro station helped me take my bag down the stairs out of no where. Some times it's those little things that make even the worst day better.

tata for now :)
